The Grand Canyon Changed this Woman's Life
One woman's last-minute decision to hike the majestic Grand Canyon results in a life-altering change. In early 2017, Lisa Abelar found herself fleeing an abusive marriage, struggling daily to keep her head above water and her kids safe. Though she’d only ever been to the Grand Canyon once as a teen, years prior, she agreed at the last minute to join a guided camping trip into the Grand Canyon. She wasn’t seeking spirituality. She wasn’t looking for a savior. She sought only quiet. What transpired during that weekend in the Canyon changed Lisa’s life forever. Read more of Lisa's story at https://www.visitarizona.com. Arizona Road Trips: Route 66 - Ep. 1
Historic US Route 66---the Mother Road, also known as the Main Street of America---used to take drivers all the way from Chicago, Ill. to Santa Monica, Calif. along one continuous route. Though its heyday is gone, travelers still find their way to Route 66, drawn by the history, nostalgia and places that dot its roadside. Arizona contains one of the longest remaining stretches of the original Route 66, extending across the state from Holbrook (east) to Kingman (west). Journey with us as we meet some of the more unusual and famous people and places along the route, starting in Hackberry, 20 miles northeast of Kingman, and ending in Seligman, home of Angel Delgadillo, who helped lead the preservation of Route 66. GIVING HOPE IN HAITI
"I felt compelled to upload this mini-doc from 4 years ago after the recent tragic events in Haiti. Les Cayes (where those mini doc was shot) is at the centre of the shallow 7.2 earthquake this week killing over 1000 people and destroying the town... Including part of the Hospital of Immaculate conception where the medical aid in this video took place. The orphanage was hit but with no casualties, heartbreaking though the children are outside in tropical storm Grace until the engineers can clear the dorms. I enclose these details because what was already an area of extreme bad luck and poverty, it again gets hit by natural disaster and ruin. We need to be supporting Haiti now more than ever." - Jack Chapman Please visit https://GiveHopeGlobal.Org who are working in this area and who have set up an emergency relief fund to help with the current crisis. #haiti #redknightmedia #jackchapman #givehopeglobal My Social Links : Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/jackpchapman Twitter // https://twitter.com/jackpchapman
This Is the Place I Was Telling You About: Jeff Kraus of Crêpe Bar
In the debut episode of “This Is the Place I Was Telling You About,” Jeff Kraus, chef at Tempe’s Crêpe Bar, rounds up a few of his buddies for a night out at his favorite foodie haunts: from Tempe to Mesa, from umami ramen to dry cider, with a dash of Vanilla Ice and a tipsy toast.
This is The Place: The Single Best Bite in Phoenix
In this second episode of "This Is the Place I Was Telling You About," Chef Danielle Leoni of The Breadfruit & Rum Bar treats her husband and their winemaker friend to her favorite downtown food, then sets them afire with taco-truck peppers. Follow along as they argue over the best way to consume a Peroni, nosh on meatballs, sip rare Arizona sake and agave-sweetened espresso, and display borderline-inappropriate pleasure while chewing the "best bite in Phoenix."

Meet the Maker: Episode 2: Pine Creek Lavender Farm
In Arizona's northern mountains, surrounded by the Mogollon Rim and roaming elk, sits Pine Creek Lavender Farm. It's where lawyer-turned-farmer, Terry Vesci and her husband Rick, hand-harvest 5,000 lavender plants annually on a homestead first settled by pioneers in the late 1800s. From leading culinary classes and harvesting the fields by hand to wrapping lavender bundles to sell, Terry Vesci is always hands-on, always enthusiastic and always welcoming to those who visit. Meet the Maker: Hopi Artist Creates Basket Unique in the World
In a small room that connects Iskasokpu Gallery to the home of Iva Honyestewa, floor-to-ceiling shelves line the walls and a window looks out over an Arizona canyon striated in color. Iva—Hopi name Honwynum, which means Female Bear Walking—weaves two traditional Hopi baskets, the coil (poota) and the sifter (tutsaya). For Iva, basketweaving is both a spiritual endeavor and a communal activity. When she weaves alone, it's meditation. When she weaves with others, it’s a time to talk and laugh. Iva's creation, the pootsaya, emerged in 2014, during her artist residency at the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe, and it's the first of its kind in the world. Now, Iva and her niece Reba Ann Lomayestewa, whom Iva taught how to weave the pootsaya, are the only basketweavers making it. To purchase the coil, sifter or pootsaya basket from Iva Honyestewa or Reba Ann Lomayestewa, contact Iva or Reba, or check out the Hopi Arts Trail.
